Inventive, powerful, thought-provoking. Each sentence is as beautifully and thoughtfully rendered as an entire poem. I loved everything about this book and cannot stop talking about it!
Reading this was like trying to catch your balance while roaming a cliffside. The unnamed narrator allows you to easily imagine yourself experiencing the events as they unfold eerily before you.
I preordered this book after falling in love with the Seattle Pinball Museum and it did not disappoint! This full-color history of pinball with tips and tricks is as informative as it is surprisingly inspiring.
The art is so colorful and vibrant as is the delightful story. Immigrants and children of immigrants will relate while others will enjoy the heart-warming themes. Overall a great choice for everyone!
I wish this book was there for me when I was Nima’s age. Powerful themes, beautiful use of language, and an overwhelming sense of warmth made me cry happy tears by the novel’s end. One of the most uplifting books I’ve read this year.
I wanted to reread this collection immediately after I finished it. These poems reached a deep well within me and up bubbled a cleansing lava. This and her debut Look are a must-read for poetry and prose lovers alike.
Upon finishing this book I wept inconsolably. Marra has woven together this collection of short stories into a tender and heart-wrenching story that has an irrevocably haunting (in the best way) impact on me.
