McGuiness will be discussing her latest novel in over a decade, Live Through This, a modern-day western about love and violence, trauma and redemption, and how, in the end, the destiny which controls us, is also up to us to control. She will be joined in conversation by Emily Lynn Paulson. This event is free and open to the public.

Jane is a woman trying to reconcile the joyous mediocrity of middle-aged life. Formerly a producer for Blake Edwards, one of television’s biggest broadcasters, Jane felt destined for stardom. Kristen McGuiness has a storied career in publishing. She is the bestselling author of 51/50: The Magical Adventures of a Single Life, which was optioned by Original Films/CBS Cable. She is the co-founder, Vice President, and Editor-at-Large of Row House Publishing, a disruptive publishing imprint at the intersection of wellness + social justice, founded with best-selling author Rebekah Borucki, and has over twenty years’ experience in book development, writing, and editorial. She has worked with such authors as Dr. Phil McGraw, Dr. Stephen Covey, Leon Logothetis, Joe Gorga, Darren Prince, Stedman Graham, and more. She began her career working in publicity for St. Martin's Press before joining the editorial departments of Simon & Schuster, Free Press, and Judith Regan at HarperCollins. Since then, Kristen has also worked in non-profit fundraising as a strategic grants and marketing director, helping to raise millions for local and international non-profits. She lives in Ojai, CA with her husband, two children and their dog, Peter.
Emily Lynn Paulson is the author of Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, Supremacy, and the Other Lies Behind Multilevel Marketing, and Highlight Real: Finding Honesty and Recovery Beyond the Filtered Life. She has given two powerful TEDx talks, both challenging the status quo of parenting, alcohol use, and feminism as we know it. Paulson has also been featured in major publications such as the Today Show, New York Times, Washington Post, The Seattle Times, Chicago Tribune, Next Question with Katie Couric, and the Tamron Hall Show. A former long time Seattle resident, she currently resides in Central Oregon with her husband and their five children.
