Gregory Erich Phillips - The Exile

April 6, 2019 - 6:00pm

Lake Forest Park

Leila stepped off the plane in Colombia, recognizing the familiar air. She couldn't believe she'd been deported. It had to be a mistake. She had to find a way back before it was too late, before the people she fled from years ago were aware of her return. It had all been going so right. A successful career working for one of the top mortgage brokers in Phoenix. Love. Leila had all the elements of her life just where she wanted them.

Christina Thatcher - More Than You Were

April 6, 2019 - 7:00pm

Ravenna

In July 2013, David Thatcher died of a drug overdose in America. More Than You Were was written by his daughter, to try to understand what came after. The result is a striking collection of poetry which explores addiction, family politics, childhood memories, and grief. Her short, sharp poems home in on situations to reveal their complex relationship and the challenges she faced after losing him.
