Third Place Commons Game Night

January 24, 2018 - 6:00pm

Lake Forest Park

Join the fun with a group that meets every Wednesday evening to play a variety of board & card games. Most games last less than 90 minutes so we can enjoy a change of pace. Bring a game you like to play or a new one you want us to try out together.

Game Night convenes in the Stadler Room on the first Wednesday of the month, and at tables in the Commons the rest of the month. Come join the fun!

Ingrid Walker - High: Drugs, Desire, and a Nation of Users

January 24, 2018 - 7:00pm

Ravenna

Whether drinking Red Bull, relieving chronic pain with oxycodone, or experimenting with Ecstasy, Americans participate in a culture of self-medication, using psychoactive substances to enhance or manage our moods. A "drug-free America" seems to be a fantasyland that most people don't want to inhabit. High: Drugs, Desire, and a Nation of Users asks fundamental questions about US drug policies and social norms. Why do we endorse the use of some drugs and criminalize others? Why do we accept the necessity of a doctor-prescribed opiate but not the same thing bought off the street?
