Dr. Eric Larson - Enlightened Aging

July 25, 2017 - 7:00pm

Lake Forest Park

In thousands of conversations over many years, Dr. Eric B. Larson has heard his patients and study participants express the same wish for old age: “They want to live independently in good health, postponing serious illness and disability until the very end,” he says.

Now, thanks to decades of scientific research into healthy aging, we have a greater chance than ever to do just that. This know-how is the subject of Dr. Larson’s new book, Enlightened Aging: Building Resilience for a Long, Healthy Life.

Sara Bathum, Pam Mandel, and Anna Vodicka - The Best Women's Travel Writing, Volume 11

July 25, 2017 - 7:00pm

Ravenna

From the newest volume in the celebrated Best Women's Travel Writing series, we welcome three fabulous local travel writers. Sara Bathum's piece recounts her comedic experiences living with nuns in the Great Rift Valley, including producing a comedy skit featuring an all-nun cast. Pam Mandel's story is a well-observed story of grief experienced while away in Hawaii, and the swirling emotions a death can cause. Finally, Anna Vodicka will read from her lyrical and funny account of diving with sharks in Palau.
