From their 1968 beginnings on Queen Anne through the 1984 breakup, move to the country, and smaller society, the Love Israel Family has been a fascinating story of communal experiments. Charles  LeWarne, author of Utopias on Puget Sound, 1885-1915,  writes a balanced history of this group of idealistic seekers.
