It’s book club night, so please join us for two local authors plus a book discussion. Opening Reader Randy Sue Coburn will discus her new book, followed by Carol Cassella, whose novel Oxygen is the club title.

In her third novel, following Owl Island, Randy Sue’s exploration of the tender bond between fathers and daughters is set in the lush splendor of Hawai’ï, where even the calming waters and traditions can’t dispel Stevie Pollack’s troubling memories of her childhood.  

Author Stephanie Kallos says, “Like her protagonist, Carol Cassella has the heart of a poet and the mind of a physician; the result is a striking meditation on the complexities of love, the fragile miracle that is the human body and the burdens and blessings of being a healer.”  Join our discussion of this gripping debut novel, and meet the author, who will attend our meeting.

Celebrate family reading at this annual event brought to us by Group Health Northgate Medical Center Council. At 10:00 am, Fred Kassab, MD, Group Health pediatrician, will share insights about family reading and a child's development. At 10:15 am, Wendy Wahman, author of Don’t Lick the Dog, will share her colorfully illustrated children’s book about how to greet a dog!  At 11:15 am, Becky Bishop, executive director of Reading with Rover, will present “Can Owning a Dog Really Make Me Healthier?”  Special thanks to The Humane Society for Seattle/King County.

Joining science's devotion to detail with religion's appreciation of the sublime, Dawn Light is a celebration of the miracles of evolution-especially human consciousness of our numbered days on a turning earth.

Come to our new Third Place Books Cookbook Club and sample recipes from ‘wichcraft by Tom Colicchio We’ll talk about the cook book as well as a companion essay collection, Eat Where You Live by Lou Bendrick.

We'll meet monthly, on the third Monday at 7pm, and will feature two new books and a tasting.
