Interviewing women in their 70’s and 80’s, co-authors Julie Hungar, of Seattle, and Janet Lieberman discovered common characteristics: flexible pragmatism, personal courage, and commitment to community guided them through WWII, the “Good Housekeeping” era, Civil Rights upheaval and the sexual revolution, and into modern social challenges. They conclude that women as well as men can learn from the reflections of these women and their perspectives.
